It came to be called Oyakuen after Masakata Matsudaira, the third feudal lord of the Aizu Domain, planted Korean ginseng in that garden and encouraged the citizens to grow it as well. About 400 kinds of medicinal herbs and trees have been passed down through generations and continue to be protected in this garden to this day. Get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life by taking a walk and interacting with history and nature.
