What to Expect
The Onaruto Bridge connects Omo Island and Tanji Island. It is one of the main routes for traveling between Shikoku and Honshu, Japan, and is a suspension bridge.
The bridge piers were constructed with a multi-column foundation method to avoid interaction with the Naruto Whirlpool. The original design was to allow both rail and road access, with space reserved for the Shinkansen to pass through. However, due to geological factors, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge connecting Tanji Island and Honshu does not have a rail passage reserved, so there is currently no plan for a rail route for the Ohnaruto Bridge.
The Tokushima Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum is themed around whirlpools and bridge piers. It uses video and simulation devices to introduce visitors to the formation of the Naruto whirlpools and the structure of the Onaruto Bridge from various angles. From here, you can have a panoramic view of the Onaruto Bridge and the Seto Inland Sea, and you can also experience sightseeing VR.
