What to Expect

The Matsumoto City Museum is a 100-year-old historical museum that has been operating since the days of the Matsumoto Junior High School Girls' Department. The Matsumoto City Museum was registered in the prefecture under the Museum Law in 1957, and is now a comprehensive museum with exhibits such as history and folklore. In addition, it has 15 facilities as branch facilities, including the national treasure Old Kaichi School. The museum houses 110,000 rare artifacts, including important physical folk artifacts, "peacock literature", Tanabata figurines, "folk religious goods", "turpentine" and other important artifacts.
