-Spot introduction-Matsushima Rikyu, Miyagi PrefectureMatsushima Rikyu, Miyagi Prefecture, which opened in October 2020, is the new landmark of Matsushima, one of Japan's three most scenic spots. The two-story wooden tourist and commercial complex houses restaurants, stores, workshops, and a museum, among other facilities. From the rooftop, you will enjoy an unparalleled unbroken view of Matsushima Bay, while the neighboring Rikyu Garden is illuminated throughout the year. In the garden that depicts Matsushima Bay, there are Yoshino cherry trees, camellias, and Japanese maple trees, so you can feel nature in every season. -Facility information/Paid area- Rikyu GardenThe Rikyu Garden, said to have been created about 5,000 years ago, depicts the graceful form of Matsushima, which is an absolutely unique scenic spot in the world. Miyagi Prefecture Matsushima Rikyu Museum (2nd Floor) The history and fossils of Matsushima Bay, the Tohoku region, and the origins of Japan are on display here. Rikyu Hall (2nd floor) It can be used as an "experience/learning" space, which is also one of the concepts of Matsushima Rikyu. You can also experience painting a "Kokeshi doll," which is a traditional craft in Miyagi, and take part in the workshops that change every day. Rooftop garden "Picnic in the Sky"You can enjoy the turning of the seasons from morning until night with the cherry trees spread out in the garden in spring, outdoor BBQ at Picnic in the Sky in summer, the illuminated autumn leaves at Rikyu Garden and the harvest moon in autumn, and the beautiful view of the snow-covered Godaido Temple in winter. â
