The palace was built in 1658 by Mitsuhisa, the 19th head of the Shimazu family, as a villa for the Shimazu family, and during the reign of Tadayoshi, the 29th head of the Shimazu family, it temporarily served as the main residence, and was also used as a "guest house" for inviting dignitaries from Japan and abroad. Enjoy the beautiful decorations inside the residence and the spectacular view of Sakurajima from the building.
In addition, Sengan-en Garden, which covers an area of 50,000 square meters, is dotted with various attractions such as history, culture, and nature.
