What to Expect
The Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum of Art opened in 1979 with the basic principles of being "a museum rich in local color that showcases the characteristics of Yamaguchi Prefecture" and "an open museum in which the people of the prefecture can participate."
Since then, with the goal of becoming a place to foster art and culture within the prefecture, the museum has held unique exhibitions highlighting local culture, including medieval Ouchi culture, and artists with ties to the prefecture, as well as special exhibitions introducing a variety of art and culture from all over the world, past and present.
We will continue to enhance our exhibitions, hold gallery talks and lectures, and hold various events together with the local community, with the aim of becoming a hub for creating new culture in our hometown of Yamaguchi.
